DEKLAB Agronomist

Description:Bayer is looking for a DEKALB Agronomist for a long-term contract position (12-14 months). This position will be located in the Brandon, MB area, reporting to our Regional Agronomy Lead West.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field scale market development trials for commercial seed products
- Technical support and training with strategic retail partners and DEKALB Territory Managers
- Provide technical information with seed, trait, and chemistry products
- Support weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed and trait products
- Build profile as technical expert in territory
- Compliant with our safety, driving policies, and manage summer students

Scope of the Job:
Execute field scale testing programs
- Programs include market development of commercial seed products (i.e. DEKALB MD trials)
- Execute trial protocols and manage both agronomist and retail MD trial program
- Work with retails/cooperators to seed trials, collect required data, maintain trials as needed, and harvest trials
- Data management and timely submission of trial results
- Work with marketing to categorize and validate key product features and benefits
Technical support and training for strategic retail partners and DEKALB Territory Managers
- Work with DEKALB Territory Managers to achieve local business objectives through technical support and training. Retail support provided strategically based on business priorities
- Provide technical information to support and position DEKALB seed and trait products
- In-field and classroom agronomic training for key retails and Territory Managers and presentations at key retail and grower tours
- Support Territory Managers with in-field diagnostic service for seed product performance inquires requiring technical analysis
Provide technical information with seed, trait and chemistry products
- Communicate agronomic position of seed products, benefits of trait products and benefits and uses of chemistry products
- Ensure new technologies have proper profile with key growers and retail
- Understand technical position of o products compared to competitors
- Support weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives for seed and trait products
- Communicate position of weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives
Provide technical support and training for weed management strategy and other stewardship initiatives as needed
- Build profile as technical expert in territory
- Build presence with key growers, retails, and 3rd party consultants
- Develop content for Growing Knowledge publication as well as external technical publications
- Participate in industry events and organizations where appropriate
- Create awareness with media as a technical expert for canola, corn, and soybean production
- Compliant with our safety, driving policies and manage summer students
- Complete safety and driving training as required
- Report injuries and accidents as required
- Coordinate and participate in required safety meetings
- Support safety initiatives at Technology Development sites and locations
- Recruit, hire, and manage summer students
Qualifications:Required Skills/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in agricultural science
Knowledgeable in Canadian canola, corn, and soybean production practices
Excellent relationship building skills
Excellent organization, time management skills, and team interactive skills
Able to interpret and communicate research information for business impact
